معرفی
Dr. Dhanraj Vishwanath is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on 3D perception, surface representation, and the integration of sensory cues like shading and disparity. He explores computational models of visual perception and applies findings to aesthetics, design, and human factors. His work bridges cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and visual science.
Research Interests:
- 3D Space Perception
- Depth and Surface Representation
- Pictorial Perception
- Eye Movement Linkage
- Computational Models of Vision
Recent research trends include analyzing sensory integration mechanisms (e.g., shading's impact on disparity perception) and developing phenomenological models of visual space. His 2025 study on sensorimotor adaptation highlights systematic biases in 3D perception, advancing theories of adaptive sensory processing.
He supervises PhD student Benjamin Thompson and has received funding from institutions like the Leverhulme Trust and the British Academy. Collaborations include projects on stereopsis in strabismus and interdisciplinary art-science initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Active member of the Institute of Behavioural and Neural Sciences (IBANS), collaborating with international researchers in vision science.
