Professor Deyan Sudjic OBE is a distinguished academic and cultural figure, currently serving as Distinguished Professor of Architecture and Design Studies at Lancaster University. He is also Director Emeritus of the Design Museum in London, where he oversaw its relocation to a new building. Previously, he held the role of Dean of the Faculty of Art Architecture and Design at Kingston University and served as a Professor in Vienna.
His career spans architecture, curation, and journalism. He studied architecture in Edinburgh and has worked as a critic for major publications like the Guardian and Financial Times, edited Domus magazine in Milan, and directed high-profile events such as the Venice Architecture Biennale. His curatorial work includes exhibitions on Zaha Hadid, Ettore Sottsass, and Stanley Kubrick.
Professor Sudjic is the author of influential books like The Language of Cities and a biography of Stalin’s architect, translated into 16 languages. He currently edits Anima, a new design magazine.
Recognized for his contributions, he received the OBE and was honored as an Honorary Fellow of Goldsmiths in 2024.
