Andy Summers

Andy Summers (he/him) is a Glasgow-based architect, educator, and photographer affiliated with multiple institutions. He serves as co-pilot for Stage 4 Architecture at the Mackintosh School of Architecture (Glasgow School of Art), design tutor at the Edinburgh School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture (University of Edinburgh), and unit tutor at the University of Strathclyde. His work bridges architectural practice, education, and curation, emphasizing a pluralistic, socially engaged approach to the built environment.

Andy’s research explores the cultural, political, and social contexts of architecture, interrogating how architectural practices emerge and challenge norms. His photography under the name Robb Mcrae complements these themes through portraiture and landscape imagery, exhibited at the Architecture Fringe and London Festival of Architecture.

He is a co-founder of the Architecture Fringe, a non-profit organization examining architecture’s societal impact, and represented Scotland at La Biennale di Venezia 2023 as co-curator of A Fragile Correspondence. His professional experience spans high-profile firms like Zaha Hadid Architects, contributing to projects such as the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, Central Bank of Iraq, and North Souks Department Store in Beirut.
