Devika Dutt is a Lecturer in Development Economics at King's College London's Department of International Development within the School of Global Affairs. She joined in June 2022. Her research focuses on the political economy of foreign exchange intervention, central bank policies, and development policy in global economic systems. Dutt holds a PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2021), specializing in International Finance and Political Economy.
She is affiliated with critical research groups including Global Production, Finance and Labour; Global Capitalism, Power & Uneven Development; and the Critical Global Capitalism Studies Collective. Additionally, she serves as a Consultant to the World Health Organization's Council in the Economics of Health for All and co-founded Diversifying and Decolonising Economics (D-Econ).
Her work emphasizes decolonizing economic thought, sustainable health care economics, and macroeconomic policy in developing economies. Recent research explores mRNA technology transfer's economic implications and the colonial origins of mainstream economics.
Key collaborations include the Berggruen Institute, University of Southern California, and the Global Development Policy Center at Boston University. She actively participates in policy discussions through events like the 2024 EADI anniversary workshop on development studies' future.
