Devesh Misra

Devesh Misra is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He serves as the Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Doctoral Program and the Department Chair. His research focuses on advanced materials for structural, energy, and biomedical applications, including high-strength alloys, biomaterials, and nanocomposites. He holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the University of Cambridge and a B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Banaras Hindu University.

Dr. Misra's interdisciplinary work integrates advanced characterization techniques such as electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction to study microstructural-property relationships. His research has led to innovations in additive manufacturing of titanium alloys, nanostructured materials, and energy systems. He has secured significant grants, including NSF awards for studies on nanostructured materials and high-strength steels.
