Derick Bugg is a Learning Specialist, Academic Advisor, and Adjunct Professor at Beacon College, where he supports students in educational and mental health contexts.
- M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University
- B.A. in Organizational Management from Warner Southern College
His research and practice focus on intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum, and equine-assisted therapy, with additional experience in substance abuse counseling and behavior analysis. He combines his clinical expertise with innovative therapeutic methods, including horse-based learning.

Bugg served 20 years in the United States Air Force, worked as a child investigator for Florida, and founded a business leveraging horses for learning and therapy after completing the UCF Business Incubation Program. He also advises the Beacon Equestrian Club.
