Derek McKee is an Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at the Faculté de droit of Université de Montréal. He holds a B.A. in Visual Arts and Social Anthropology from Harvard University, B.C.L./LL.B. from McGill University, and an S.J.D. (Doctorate) from the University of Toronto. His research focuses on transnational regulatory frameworks, international trade agreements, and administrative law. He previously served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada and taught at the University of Sherbrooke, where he led common law and transnational law programs.
Teaching & Research: McKee teaches common law and administrative law. His current research examines the implementation of international trade agreements, particularly in public procurement markets. He leads projects funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQSC), including a study on Canadian provincial public markets and international trade law.
Affiliations: Member of the Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP), a strategic research hub involving over 30 scholars. He collaborates on projects analyzing governance, healthcare, and international legal frameworks. His work intersects with neoliberalism, digital platforms, and regulatory compliance.
