معرفی
Professor Derek Jones is a leading neuroimaging scientist at Cardiff University, serving as Professor in the School of Psychology and Director of CUBRIC (Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre). His work focuses on advancing diffusion MRI to understand brain structure in health and disease, with key interests in ultra-strong gradient systems and low-field portable MRI to democratize access to imaging globally.
His research spans neurodevelopment, neurodegeneration, and psychiatric disorders, using cutting-edge imaging techniques to quantify white matter microstructure and connectivity. He is actively involved in postgraduate supervision and has contributed to over 300 peer-reviewed publications.
- Research Focus: Diffusion MRI, ultra-strong gradients, low-field MRI, brain microstructure, neurodevelopment, neurodegeneration, psychiatric imaging
- Affiliations: Cardiff University, School of Psychology, CUBRIC
- Honors: FISMRM, MBE, FRSB, DipIPSM
His recent work includes pioneering studies on the Connectom scanner, developing low-cost MRI for global health, and integrating multimodal imaging (MRI, MEG, TMS) for comprehensive brain analysis. He is also a strong advocate for open science and reproducibility in neuroimaging.
