Denver Brunsman is an Assistant Professor of History at Wayne State University and currently serves as the Department Chair. He specializes in the Early American Republic, British Atlantic World, and Military History. His research focuses on the political and social dynamics of the American Revolution and the British Atlantic World. Brunsman teaches courses such as 'George Washington and His World' at Washington’s Mount Vernon estate and co-directs the Albert H. Small Normandy Institute at George Washington University. He has authored award-winning books, including The Evil Necessity: British Naval Impressment in the Eighteenth-Century Atlantic World and co-authored leading textbooks like Liberty, Equality, Power: A History of the American People.
His academic honors include the Trachtenberg Prize for Teaching Excellence and induction into the GW Academy of Distinguished Teachers. He actively engages in K-12 professional development programs, partnering with institutions like the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
