Dr. Denva Gallant is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Rice University, specializing in European medieval art and architecture with a focus on manuscript illumination and the Trecento period. Her research explores narrative, the eremitic ideal, environmental imaginaries (e.g., deserts), race/ethnicity in late medieval Italy, and medieval patronage. She holds a PhD from Harvard University's Department of Art History and Architecture.
