Dennis Maher is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University at Buffalo's School of Architecture and Planning. He has taught there since 2004 and directs initiatives blending art, design, preservation, and public memory. His work explores fluid material assemblages through construction/demolition patterns and post-industrial cultural narratives.
Education: B.Arch from Cornell University (1999). Professional background includes 8 years in Buffalo's construction/demolition industries (2002-2010). Founded and directs Assembly House 150 (AH150), transforming an 1850s church into an evolving 3D architectural collage. Maintains the Fargo House (Buffalo), a 15-year evolving domestic experiment combining collected fragments with living patterns.
Research focuses on:

- Material memory and animism in objects
- Hybrid art/architecture practices
- Community-based city-building initiatives
Exhibitions include Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Mattress Factory Art Museum, and Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale. Current projects emphasize collaborative creation with tradespeople, students, and apprentices in immersive built environments.
