Dennis Kim

Dennis Kim is a globally experienced violinist and educator currently serving as Assistant Professor of Violin at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, University of California, Irvine. He has held concertmaster positions in orchestras across the United States, Europe, and Asia, including the Tucson Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, and Buffalo Philharmonic. Kim is also an active teacher at institutions such as the National Orchestral Institute of Canada, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Royal Conservatory of Music.

His career spans performance, education, and collaboration with contemporary composers. Kim has premiered modern violin concertos, performed in Hollywood studio orchestras for major films, and co-founded Trio Barclay, an ensemble dedicated to commissioning new works. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and Yale School of Music under notable mentors like Jaime Laredo and Aaron Rosand.

Dennis Kim plays a 1701 ex-Dushkin Stradivarius on permanent loan and uses a modern bow crafted by Yongje Song. His teaching emphasizes violin performance and strings education, with former students now active in prestigious orchestras worldwide.
