Dennis Jenkins is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences. He serves as a Senior Research Archaeologist for the Museum of Natural and Cultural History and has directed the UO Northern Great Basin archaeological field school since 1989.
Research Interests: Dennis specializes in the prehistoric archaeology of the Great Basin, focusing on the first colonization of the Americas, obsidian sourcing/hydration, prehistoric shell bead trade, and settlement-subsistence patterns. His work at the Paisley Caves has recovered the oldest human DNA in North America (14,000-year-old coprolites) and includes co-authoring articles in Science.
