Dennis Beitel is a Research Fellow at the Research Center Deutscher Sprachatlas (DSA) within the Department of German Studies and Arts at Philipps-Universität Marburg. His work centers on regional language variation and sprachgeographische information systems, particularly the REDE project.

Beitel’s research spans dialectology, phonetics, and computational linguistics, with a focus on Hessian dialects and language mapping. His publications highlight applications of GIS in sprachkartographie, entrundung phenomena, and cross-cultural linguistic analysis of German dialects in Brazil.
Recent lectures and workshops, including a 2021 presentation on umlaut patterns in Hessian and international collaborations on the REDE-SprachGIS system, reflect his expertise in digital humanities and phonological variation. He co-taught a 2021 course on sprachkartographie theory and practice at Philipps-Universität Marburg.
Beitel contributes to the REDE project, which explores regional language dynamics through interactive mapping tools. His work integrates sociolinguistic and technological approaches to document and visualize dialect evolution.
