Dennis B. Arnett is the John B. Malouf Professor of Marketing at the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University. He serves as Area Coordinator for the Marketing and Supply Chain Management department and as a PhD Advisor. His academic journey includes a BA in Mathematics from Occidental College, an MA in Education from Alliant International University, and a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing) from Texas Tech University.
Arnett’s research focuses on competition theory and relationship marketing theory, with an emphasis on resource-advantage theory. His work explores strategic marketing approaches, market segmentation, and organizational effectiveness. Key contributions include studies on knowledge management practices in multinational firms, tacit knowledge transfer between departments, and the application of RA theory to market structures and platform-based organizations.
His scholarly output spans journals like the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, and Journal of Business Research, with over 50 publications since 2000. The 2007 Emerald Literati Highly Commended Award (shared with Shelby D. Hunt and Sreedhar Madhavaram) and a 2006–2007 Fulbright Scholarship highlight his academic impact.
Arnett advises PhD candidates and emphasizes bridging theoretical frameworks with practical marketing challenges. His work often integrates interdisciplinary perspectives, including organizational behavior, economics, and digital platforms. Current research trends include exploring rhetorical signals in crowdfunding, virtual team effectiveness, and strategic emphases in entrepreneurial contexts.
