Denise Spitzer serves as an Associate Professor at the Women's Studies Institute within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. Her academic work critically examines how global socioeconomic forces intersect with gender, ethnicity, migration status, and other identity markers to shape health outcomes and wellbeing.
Her research program investigates the impact of global economic shifts on vulnerable populations, with particular focus on immigrants, migrants, refugees, and their families. Key areas of expertise include:
