Denise Marciano

Denise Marciano, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in kidney disease within the Division of Nephrology. She holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College (magna cum laude), a Ph.D. in Cellular Biophysics from The Rockefeller University, and an M.D. from Weill Cornell University Medical College. Her postdoctoral training included nephrology fellowship and a research fellowship in the Louis F. Reichardt Lab at UCSF.

Her research focuses on kidney development, regeneration, and congenital abnormalities, employing cellular, genetic, and biochemical approaches. Key interests include renal tubule and glomeruli mechanisms, and pathogenesis of glomerular diseases. She has secured grants from the March of Dimes and NIH to support her work, highlighted through the Marciano Research Lab.

Publications span nephrology, developmental biology, and bioengineering, with recent work on kidney regeneration, vascular development, and molecular signaling pathways. Professional certifications include American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
