Denise Lebsack is an Associate Professor at San Diego State University's School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences within the College of Health and Human Services. She earned her Ph.D. in Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia (1994), M.Ed. in Athletic Training (1989), and B.S. in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University (1987). Her academic appointments include positions at California University of Pennsylvania, Mesa Community College, and SDSU since 1994.
Her research focuses on athletic training education, sports injury evaluation techniques, therapeutic modalities, and innovative teaching methods. She investigates injury prevention strategies, sports pathology, and technology-enhanced learning approaches for athletic training students.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on sports medicine applications, nutritional interventions, and food science innovations, particularly protein functionality and nutraceutical effects on athletic performance and metabolic health. Recent work explores novel food sources and dietary impacts on exercise recovery.
