معرفی
Dr. Denis Shishin is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Queensland, specializing in thermodynamic modeling and experimental studies of high-temperature metallurgical systems. His role as Theme Leader in Thermodynamic Modeling & Education within the Pyrometallurgy Innovation Centre (PYROSEARCH) focuses on advancing pyrometallurgical processes for sustainability and resource efficiency.
- Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Moscow State University (with Honors), Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering (2014) from Polytechnique Montréal.
Shishin's research spans pyrometallurgy, phase equilibria, and thermodynamic modeling, with applications in copper, lead, and WEEE processing. His work integrates experimental phase equilibria studies with computational tools like FactSage® to optimize slag-metal-matte distributions, arsenic flows, and sustainable recycling methods.
Recent publications highlight his contributions to multicomponent thermodynamic databases, including re-optimization of FeO–Fe2O3–SiO2 and CaO–FeO–Fe2O3–SiO2 systems, as well as innovations in oxygen quantification via EPMA. His studies address critical challenges in metallurgical sustainability, such as resource efficiency in primary copper smelters and e-waste recycling.
Shishin collaborates with industry partners through grants like the ARC Linkage Project (2020–2025) and the RTCM Trailblazer Project (2024–2027), focusing on nickel/cobalt recovery and circular economy solutions. He supervises postgraduate researchers, notably on topics like the Ni-Fe-Cu-As-S system thermodynamics and WEEE recycling optimization.
