Dr. Denice Adkins is a Professor and Associate Director of the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri, within the College of Education & Human Development. Her expertise spans public libraries, services to Latinx and underserved populations, youth services, and reader advisory research. She earned her MLS and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Dr. Adkins has held leadership roles including President of REFORMA, Treasurer of REFORMA, and Executive Board member of ALISE, alongside serving as a Councilor-at-Large for the American Library Association.
Her research focuses on leveraging library services to address educational inequities, particularly through analyses of PISA exam data and cross-cultural literacy practices. Notable projects include studies on school library impacts in Latin America, demographic influences on public library facilities, and diversity in Library and Information Science (LIS) education. She has been recognized with a Fulbright Scholarship to Honduras and a Fulbright Specialist award to India.
