Denia Djokić

Denia Djokić is an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Michigan’s Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences department and a 2021 Levenick Resident Scholar in Sustainability Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is affiliated with the Center for Japanese Studies as a Faculty Associate. Her work focuses on integrating principles of social equity and environmental justice into nuclear energy governance, leveraging Science and Technology Studies and feminist frameworks.

Education:

• PhD and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering (with Designated Emphasis in Energy Science and Technology), University of California, Berkeley
• B.S. in Physics, Carnegie Mellon University

Research Interests: Djokić examines the governance of nuclear energy technology through a justice lens, addressing radioactive waste management, advanced fuel cycles, and stakeholder engagement. Her interdisciplinary approach critiques institutional norms in nuclear science and policy.
