Denham Phipps

Denham Phipps is an Honorary Lecturer in Pharmacy at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the School of Health Sciences. His research focuses on ergonomics and human factors in healthcare, particularly patient safety, safety culture, and cognitive ergonomics. He holds Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) status and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Qualifications include a BSc in Human Psychology (Aston University, 2001), MSc in Applied Psychology (Cranfield University, 2005), PhD (University of Manchester, 2008), and a PgCert in Higher Education (2017).

His research interests span healthcare risk management, practitioner wellbeing, and organisational learning. He contributes to editorial boards (e.g., Ergonomics) and professional committees (British Standards Institution PH/9). Recent work includes projects on medication safety incident analysis and paediatric drug-related issues.

Scientific recognitions include Chartered Ergonomist (CErgHF) and Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). He collaborates on initiatives like the NIHR Greater Manchester Patient Safety Translational Research Centre.
