Demetris Lamnisos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the European University of Cyprus, within the School of Sciences. He holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Warwick (2010), an MSc in Statistics from the University of Warwick (2005), and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Cyprus (2004). His research focuses on public health, epidemiology, and biostatistics, with particular emphasis on demographic forecasting, socioeconomic disparities in health outcomes, and thyroid-related disorders.

Research Interests: Demetris’ work addresses challenges in public health, including population aging, health inequalities, and the application of statistical methods to epidemiological problems. He has contributed to studies on thyroid carcinoma diagnosis, socioeconomic deprivation indices, and the impact of climate change on health.
Publications: With over 50 peer-reviewed articles, his work spans topics like demographic projections, thyroid disease epidemiology, and public health policy. Recent trends in his publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, combining data science with health economics to address precision public health challenges.

Academic Leadership: He serves as Chairperson of the Department of Health Sciences and Coordinator of the Master in Public Health program at the European University of Cyprus. He is also a founder of the Cyprus Society of Epidemiology and Public Health and a member of the National Committee for the Protection and Welfare of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes.
Grants & Projects: Lamnisos has led projects on small-area deprivation indices, geodemographic classifications, and public health inspection training. He coordinated a national initiative to develop a Cyprus National Statistics output area classification (2015–2018).
Labs/Teams: His work involves collaborations with public health institutions, including studies on occupational safety and health inspections, antimicrobial resistance, and climate change impacts on health.
