Delini Fernando, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Program Area Coordinator in the Department of Educational Psychology and Professional Counseling at the University of Oklahoma’s Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education. Her work focuses on counselor education, clinical supervision, and innovative group work approaches, particularly in multicultural and disaster recovery contexts. She holds licensure in Oklahoma and Texas and has editorial roles with major counseling journals.
Dr. Fernando’s academic journey includes a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Chestnut Hill College, an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of New Orleans. She previously taught at the University of North Texas.
Her research emphasizes culturally responsive practices, including group counseling for Indigenous populations, trauma recovery, and systemic barriers faced by marginalized groups. Notable areas include disaster mental health interventions, family resilience in autism contexts, and social justice in clinical supervision.
