Dr. Deitra Kuester serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Education, Counseling and Leadership at Bradley University's College of Education & Health Sciences. She joined Bradley in 2006 after teaching as an adjunct at Purdue University, where she earned her Ph.D. in Special Education with a minor in Administration and Supervision as a Director of Special Education.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from Purdue University, an M.S. in Special Education from Butler University, and a B.A. in Learning Behavior Specialist and Computer Education from Purdue University.

Dr. Kuester’s research focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration through experiential learning, particularly using social assistive robots to teach social skills. Her work has secured over $120K in grants and resulted in multiple publications on robot-assisted education and faculty-student partnerships. She designed a patented game board system for special education, featuring practical, securely-closed compartments.

Dr. Kuester actively contributes to academic governance as Chair of the Scholarship Committee and reviewer for the Council for Exceptional Children Teacher Education Division. She sponsors Greek organizations (Alpha Kappa Alpha Epsilon Eta Sorority, Sigma Alpha Eta Fraternity, Delta Tau Delta Fraternity) and supports humanitarian causes including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and Team Rubicon.
