Dr. Deirdre Oakley is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Georgia State University and Managing Editor of the Journal of Urban Affairs. Her research analyzes how urban policies affect social disadvantages in education, housing, and neighborhoods.
Research Focus: She examines spatial dimensions of inequality, public housing transformations, and neighborhood change. Recent NSF-funded projects study Community Land Trusts as tools for equitable development.
Policy Engagement: Provided congressional testimony on public housing preservation and neighborhood initiatives to the Financial Services Committee.
