Deirdre Lyons

Deirdre Lyons is an Associate Professor in the Marine Biology department at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego. She specializes in the developmental biology of marine organisms, focusing on gene regulatory networks and evolutionary developmental biology.

• Education: B.A. in Biology from Mount Holyoke College; Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from U.C. Berkeley.

Her research explores the developmental mechanisms of marine invertebrates, including molluscs, annelids, and echinoderms. She works at the Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine, integrating molecular and cellular approaches to study marine life.
