Professor Deirdre Dragovich is a faculty member at the University of Sydney's School of Geosciences, where she holds the rank of Professor. Her research focuses on environmental geomorphology, particularly rock weathering mechanisms, erosion processes in dryland and post-fire environments, and the management of soil degradation in protected areas. She has contributed to understanding sediment dynamics in forested catchments and the socio-economic dimensions of environmental policy in Iran and Australia.
Her academic contributions include co-authoring The Australian Physical Environment (2008) and leading studies on desertification, water-energy-food nexus challenges, and climate change adaptation strategies. She supervises PhD candidates and teaches environmental research methods in the Master of Environmental Science program.
Her recent work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to assess ecosystem services in Nigeria and Iran, evaluates hydrologic models under climate extremes in Australian forests, and explores sustainable tourism management practices in national parks.
