Dr. Deepak K. Tosh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Previously, he held roles as a Cybersecurity Researcher at the DoD-sponsored Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity at Norfolk State University and as a postdoctoral researcher at Tennessee State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Master's from the University of Hyderabad. His research focuses on cybersecurity, blockchain technology, data provenance, and interdisciplinary topics like game theory and mechanism design.
Key areas of research include blockchain-based data provenance in cloud environments, cybersecurity information sharing frameworks (CYBEX), and cyber-physical systems security. He leads the TRUCYBER Lab, which develops secure and trustworthy systems for IoT, industrial networks, and battlefield environments. His work emphasizes decentralized solutions, privacy preservation, and resilient infrastructure design.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on Computer Security at UTEP. He has advised numerous graduate and undergraduate students on projects related to blockchain, IoT security, and edge computing. His research has been published in top venues like IEEE MILCOM, IEEE Cloud, and the Journal of Computer and System Sciences.
Dr. Tosh actively contributes to academic service as a TPC member for workshops and a reviewer for journals like IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics & Security and IEEE Transactions on Services Computing.
