Deepak Cyril D’Souza, MD is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and a staff psychiatrist at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. He holds leadership roles including directing the Schizophrenia Neuropharmacology Research Group (SNRGY), the Neurobiological Studies Unit, and the Yale Center for the Science of Cannabis and Cannabinoids. With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in experimental psychopharmacology, neuroimaging studies, and clinical trials targeting schizophrenia, mood disorders, and cannabis use disorder. His research integrates psychedelic compounds like psilocybin and DMT for neuropsychiatric conditions. He has pioneered studies on cannabinoids’ effects on psychosis and holds editorial roles in major journals.
Education: MD from John’s National Academy of Health Sciences (1986), psychiatric residency at SUNY Downstate (1992), and postdoctoral fellowship at Yale.
