Dr. Declan Fahie is a Lecturer in the School of Education at University College Dublin (UCD), where he also serves as Director of School Placement on the Professional Masters in Education. A former primary school teacher, his research focuses on workplace bullying dynamics, queer theory in education, teacher diversity and equality, and organizational cultures in educational settings. He holds a prestigious Irish Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2012) and a Royal Irish Academy Mobility Award (2014), which supported his work as a Visiting Scholar at CUNY’s Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. Fahie has coordinated modules such as Schools and Society, Students Schools & Society, and CSPE Methodologies, reflecting his commitment to bridging theory and practice in teacher education.
His research spans international collaborations, including studies on early childhood care in Ethiopia and bullying in Irish HEIs. Fahie’s work emphasizes systemic critiques of educational institutions, particularly regarding equity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and the psychological impacts of toxic leadership and workplace bullying.
