Dr. Debra Stroiney is an Associate Professor and Academic Program Coordinator (Graduate) in Kinesiology at George Mason University's School of Kinesiology within the College of Education and Human Development. She holds a PhD from Springfield College and has been in academia since 2014. Her research focuses on curriculum development in kinesiology, exercise medicine applications, and the psychological and motivational aspects of exercise adherence.
Education: PhD in Exercise Physiology from Springfield College.
Research Interests: Includes teaching methodologies in kinesiology, community-based exercise programs, and the intersection of mood states and physical activity. Recent work explores foam rolling effects on running economy and bone density assessment in elite athletes.
Key Contributions: Co-developed a graduate certificate program in kinesiology, contributed to the Exercise is Medicine initiative, and published on activity monitor validation in exercise programming. She also maintains certifications as a Precision Nutrition Coach and ITCA Triathlon Coach.
Affiliations: Member of the Sports Medicine Assessment Research and Testing (S.M.A.R.T.) Laboratory. Teaches courses including Exercise Physiology I, Research Methods, and Directed Inquiry.
