Debra Gibbs

Dr. Debra Gibbs is an Associate Professor at Belmont University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, teaching in both the MSOT and OTD programs. With over 40 years of clinical experience, she has practiced in acute care, industrial rehabilitation, outpatient orthopedics, and pediatrics. She holds certifications as a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) and serves on multiple professional boards.

Her educational background includes:

• EdD in Organizational Leadership from University of Sarasota
• MHS in Occupational Therapy from University of Florida
• BS in Occupational Therapy from University of Florida

Her research examines four primary domains:

• Professional behaviors in clinical practice
• Workplace ergonomics and injury prevention
• Innovative community service delivery models
• Pedagogical applications of clinical simulation in OT education

She was honored as a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association (FAOTA) in 2008 for advancing occupational therapy practice through program development and education.

Dr. Gibbs maintains active community engagement through:
