Dr. Debra Dunning serves as Professor of Instruction at Ohio University's Patton College of Education, Lancaster Campus, where she holds dual roles as Program Coordinator for Early Childhood and Elementary Education and co-advisor for the Ohio Education Association Aspiring Educator student organization.
Her educational foundation includes:
- BS in Education from Bowling Green State University
- MS in Human Development and Family Relations from The Ohio State University
- PhD in Human Development and Family Relations from The Ohio State University (dissertation focus: marginalization of child care workers)
Dr. Dunning's research program investigates critical intersections of teacher development and child welfare systems. Her fieldwork in Zimbabwe provides cross-cultural data on child development in resource-limited settings, directly informing her work on CRISIS Schooling and Pandemic Parenting frameworks. She maintains active scholarship in mentoring relationship dynamics within preservice teacher education and develops innovative preschool partnership models for community-based learning.
