Dr. Deborah Rooke is a Lecturer in Old Testament Hermeneutics at Regent's Park College and a Visiting Lecturer in Old Testament at St Stephen's House, both part of the University of Oxford. She holds a DPhil in Old Testament from Oxford under Professor Sue Gillingham.
Her research focuses on cult and ritual in the Old Testament, feminist and gendered interpretations, and the influence of Old Testament texts in G.F. Handel's oratorios. She has served as a lecturer at the University of Wales, Lampeter and King’s College London before returning to Oxford in 2010.
Rooke is a member of the editorial board for the Journal for the Study of the Old Testament. Her publications and research outputs are detailed in an attached file.
