Deborah Nyangulu is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies at the University of Bremen and a postdoctoral researcher in the DFG-funded Research Training Group 'Contradiction Studies'. She holds a PhD from the University of Münster (2019) and has held academic positions in Germany since 2015. Her research focuses on literary and cultural studies with emphases on African literature, postcolonial theory, social media activism, and gender studies.

Her work investigates contradictions in hashtag activism, pluriversal knowledge systems, and the interplay between social movements and literary forms. Key research themes include masculinities in African literature, decolonial pedagogy, and transnationalism. She has guest-edited special journal issues and co-authored influential volumes like Locating African European Studies.
Teaching spans over 40 courses at BA/MA levels in literary theory, African studies, and critical pedagogy. Recent talks include discussions on gender studies at Oldenburg University and African protests at Konstanz University. Her current book project explores hashtag activism's role in reconfiguring knowledge systems.
