Deborah Margolin is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Theater Studies at Yale University and a renowned playwright/performance artist. She co-founded Split Britches Theater Company and authored eight solo performance works, touring nationally. Her awards include the OBIE Award (2000) and Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright Award (2008).
Research interests focus on solo performance, feminist theater, and narrative-driven works. She has held residencies at Hampshire College, University of Hawaii, Tulane University, and NYU's Undergraduate Drama Department. Commissions include projects from the Jewish Museum of New York and Actor’s Theater of Louisville.
Her 1999 play Bringing the Fishermen Home and 2005 play Three Seconds in the Key exemplify her exploration of identity, history, and social themes. The 1999 book Of All The Nerve compiles her influential performance works.
