Deborah Kent is Senior Lecturer in History of Mathematics at the University of St Andrews' School of Mathematics and Statistics. Her research focuses on historical astronomy expeditions, material mathematics, and underrepresented contributions in scientific history. She has received multiple awards including the Paul R. Halmos-Lester R. Ford Award for expository writing excellence.
Current projects include STFC-funded research on solar eclipse histories and analyses of early 20th century mathematical collaborations. Recent publications highlight forgotten contributors to British astronomy expeditions and interdisciplinary work between mathematicians and biologists.
