Deborah Kardane serves as Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Education at Antioch University New England, teaching Reading/Literacy Teaching Methods in the Integrated Learning Program while concurrently teaching 3rd grade at Academy Elementary in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Her educational qualifications include:
- Master of Education (M.Ed.)
- Doctoral Candidate in Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, University of Massachusetts (current)
Her research examines academic language's role in student access to school texts, development of teacher-designed literacy practices for under-served populations, and efficacy of university-school partnerships in teacher preparation. This work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical classroom applications to address educational disparities.
She founded the Intern Residency Partnership Program with Brattleboro Elementary Schools, placing select Integrated Learning students as paid resident-interns to strengthen pedagogical training through real-world experience.
