Deborah Bradbery

Deborah Bradbery is a Casual Academic at the University of Newcastle's School of Education. With over 30 years of experience in NSW primary education—including roles as Assistant Principal, Principal, and Literacy Consultant—she specializes in K-6 literacy and pedagogical practices. Since 2005, she has lectured at the University of Newcastle, coordinating courses such as Advanced Literacies K-6, Ethics and K-6 Internship, and Managing the K-6 Environment.

Her research focuses on Global Education and Children's Literature, emphasizing values-based pedagogy, global citizenship, and sustainable education through literary integration. She explores interdisciplinary approaches to teacher training and curriculum development.

She has received multiple teaching awards, including a Regional Teaching Award and commendations for the National Excellence in Teaching Award and Lecturer of the Year Award. Her scholarly work examines global education frameworks, pedagogical ethics, and literary applications in primary education.

Administratively, she served as Program Convenor for the Master of Teaching (Primary) and Bachelor of Teaching programs, and is a member of the University of Newcastle Alumni Executive Committee. She collaborates on grants like the AusAID-funded Global Education Program ($100,035) and the Professional Teachers Council NSW project on intercultural competency ($27,987).
