Dr. Deborah Belcher is a Lecturer in Piano at UNC Asheville. She holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Michigan State University, an M.M. in Piano Performance from Indiana University, and a B.S. in Piano Performance from Winthrop University. Additional training includes studies with Eugene List at The Eastman School of Music and Robert Goldsand at The Manhattan School of Music.

Her teaching career spans Interlochen Arts Academy, Northwestern Michigan College, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and UNC Asheville. She currently maintains a private piano studio in Asheville, NC, catering to students aged 7 to late 60s, ranging from beginners to advanced performers.
Dr. Belcher is a founding member of the Asheville Area Piano Forum and has served as a Clinician & Adjudicator for national and regional organizations such as Music Teachers National Association, North Carolina and Tennessee Music Teachers Associations, National Guild of Piano Teachers, and Canadian Kiwanis Music Festivals. She has performed extensively as a recitalist, orchestral soloist, and collaborative pianist across the Eastern US, Canada, and on Public Radio & TV. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes appreciation, excellence, mastery, and joy in piano performance.
