Deblina Majumder

Dr. Deblina Majumder is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Sheffield Hallam University, working within the College of Business, Technology and Engineering and Materials and Engineering Research Institute under Professor Paul A. Bingham. She joined the university on 6th July 2021 and leads research for the Innovate UK-funded GRIFFIN project, which develops Raman gas spectroscopy instruments to decarbonize glass, cement, and ceramics industries.

Her educational background includes:

• PhD in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, India (2019), focusing on nanostructured metal oxides for sensors and environmental remediation
• MSc in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry specialization) from University of Calcutta, India
• BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, India

Dr. Majumder's research integrates chemistry and applied material science to address carbon emissions. Her expertise spans synthesizing heterogeneous catalyst nanomaterials, surface functionalization, and real-time field deployment of sensor systems. Current work targets foundation industry decarbonization through advanced spectroscopic techniques and nanomaterial engineering.

Funding for her research comes exclusively from the Innovate UK GRIFFIN project, aiming to deliver transformative emission-reduction instruments for industrial applications.

She operates within Professor Bingham's research group at the Materials and Engineering Research Institute, focusing on collaborative development of analytical solutions for sustainable manufacturing.
