Debjani Mukherjee

Debjani Mukherjee is an Associate Professor of Medical Ethics with affiliations at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). She holds multiple roles, including Associate Professor in Clinical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Clinical Ethicist in NYP's Department of Medicine. Her expertise spans neuroethics, brain injury ethics, disability rights, and palliative care. She co-directs the Consortium for the Advanced Study of Brain Injury (CASBI) at WCM and Rockefeller University.

Education: M.D. from Cornell University Medical College (1986), B.A. (The College of Letters) from Wesleyan University (1982). Research focuses on ethical challenges in neuroscience, neurorehabilitation, and end-of-life care, supported by NIH grants including studies on DBS in traumatic brain injury. She has authored over 500 publications and serves on editorial boards of major journals like Journal of Clinical Ethics and Neuroethics.
