Debbie Taylor is a Lecturer in Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Computing Sciences, where she teaches Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Python, Information Retrieval, and Human-Computer Interaction (UX). She is also a Senior Adviser, member of the Equality and Diversity Committee, the Cyber Security Research Group, and the Executive Team, and chairs the Staff Student Liaison Committee. She founded the 'Big Sister Little Sister' mentoring program to support female-identifying students in computing.

Debbie's research centers on trust in conversational agents for mental health data disclosure, combining computational, socio-, and psycholinguistics. Her work investigates how chatbots can be designed to safely collect sensitive mental health information by mimicking human-like conversational traits. She emphasizes real-world industry experience in her teaching, drawing from 25 years in software engineering and IT project management in the insurance sector.
Her two recent publications (2023, 2024) explore user trust in chatbots for mental health disclosures, showing that tailored linguistic design increases trust, particularly among younger and non-binary users. These works reflect a growing interdisciplinary trend at the intersection of cybersecurity, mental health, and human-centered AI.
