Debbie Delaney is a Professor of Entomology at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources and the Department of Entomology & Wildlife Ecology. Her research focuses on the evolutionary biology and population genetics of honey bees, the ecological value of forage for pollinators, and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies for honey bee health.

Dr. Delaney’s work explores how genetic diversity in honey bees enhances colony resilience, the role of polyandry in colony health, and the impacts of soil health on floral rewards. She has developed IPM protocols for managing honey bee pests and collaborates with national and international consortia.
Her recent publications highlight trends in pollinator genetics, mating success metrics, and ecological interactions in apiculture. Dr. Delaney advises graduate students in entomology and co-leads the Honey Bee Health research group. She contributes to outreach through peer-reviewed extension publications and initiatives like Dare To Bee and MAAREC.
