Debasree Das Gupta

Debasree Das Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science at Utah State University, where she teaches graduate courses for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program in Health Education and Promotion. She holds a PhD in Public Policy from George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government and has extensive experience as a health policy analyst and educator.

Research Interests: Dr. Das Gupta specializes in public health research with expertise in quantitative methodologies including spatial analysis, econometrics, and epidemiology. Her work extensively utilizes population health data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Her current research focuses on examining health and aging phenomena, particularly analyzing social determinants of health among older adults such as social isolation, neighborhood factors, and age-group differences. She also investigates social determinants of older adult-nonelderly relations, including geographic patterns of aging, spatial separation between age groups, and multigenerational living arrangements.

Publications Trends: Her extensive publication record spans over 25 journal articles, 6 books and book chapters, and 2 fact sheets. Recent works focus heavily on aging, social determinants of health, emergency department utilization patterns among older adults, and the impact of living arrangements on mental health. She employs advanced quantitative methods including spatial analysis and systematic reviews to address critical public health challenges.

She has mentored over 20 graduate students in the Kinesiology and Health Science program, with many completing their degrees between 2018-2024.
