Debasis Sen

Debasis Sen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. His research focuses on advanced topics in algebraic topology and homotopy theory.

Dr. Sen specializes in Algebraic Topology and Homotopy Theory, with particular expertise in Equivariant Homotopy Theory, Equivariant cohomology with local coefficients, Higher category theory, and Model category. His research bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications in category theory and topological structures.

His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on equivariant structures in topology, particularly examining cohomology theories with local coefficients. Over the years, his work has evolved from foundational studies in simplicial cohomology to more complex investigations involving crossed complexes and parametrized spectra.

Dr. Sen has held various academic positions including Assistant Professor at National Institute of Science Education and Research, India, and postdoctoral fellowships at University of Haifa, Israel and University of Calgary. His research has been supported by prestigious fellowships and has resulted in significant contributions to the field of algebraic topology.

He leads the Topology & Geometry research group at IIT Kanpur, mentoring students and collaborating with researchers worldwide to advance understanding in homotopy theory and related mathematical structures.
