Dean Kenning

Dean Kenning is a Research Fellow in the Department of Fine Art at Kingston University's Kingston School of Art. His work bridges artistic practice and critical theory, focusing on kinetic sculpture, diagramming methodologies, and the socio-political dimensions of art. Born in Hounslow, he holds a PhD from the London Consortium (2008) and has exhibited internationally, including solo shows at Matt's Gallery (2019) and Beaconsfield (2019). He co-curated the 2023 exhibition Poor Things exploring social class in sculpture. Kenning’s research interrogates neoliberalism’s impact on art education and advocates for critical pedagogical frameworks. He is set to publish Diagramming Analogies in 2025. Awards include the 2020-21 Mark Tanner Sculpture Prize.
