Dean J. Johnson is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at West Chester University and Director of Peace and Conflict Studies. He teaches courses in Peace Studies and Religious Studies as an interdisciplinary activist scholar.
- Research Interests: Religion and social change, race critical theory, critical whiteness studies, gender critical theory, nonviolent activism, community organizing, conflict transformation, and critical pedagogies.
- Activism: Acts as a consultant for nonviolent campaigns and co-facilitates anti-oppression workshops with Melissa Bennett on queer solidarity, anti-racism, and nonviolent direct action.
- Leadership: Serves as U.S. Membership Chair for the Peace and Justice Studies Association and advisory board member for the SpiritHouse Project in New York.
- Publications: Co-editor of Resist, Organize, Transform: An Introduction to Nonviolence and Activism (Cognella Academic Publishing, 2019).
