DeLeon Gray

DeLeon Gray is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and Equity in the College of Education at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on fostering belonging and equity for marginalized students, particularly Black and Latinx youth. He holds degrees from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and The Ohio State University.

Gray’s work emphasizes communal learning, structural school reforms, and motivational frameworks to improve educational outcomes. His research has been recognized with awards such as the 2018 Best Article Award in Educational Psychologist and the Change Agent Award from St. Augustine’s University. He teaches courses like School Belonging and Community-Engaged Research.

Key areas of expertise include disrupting systemic inequities, student voice in education, and culturally affirming pedagogy. His articles highlight themes of belonging, racial identity, and instructional practices to promote inclusion.
